Toll Group appoints Thomas Knudsen as President, Global Forwarding
Toll Group appoints global forwarding leader, based in Singapore

Toll Group has appointed Thomas Knudsen as President, Global Forwarding, who will be based in Singapore.

Mr Knudsen will oversee Toll’s Global Forwarding division, which provides international air and ocean freight forwarding and supply chain management services, ranging from complex supply chain services through to port-to-port freight forwarding.

Mr Knudsen brings more than 25 years of experience in logistics having held executive leadership roles in commercial, trade and route management across the Middle East, North America, Europe and Asia. Most recently Mr Knudsen was CEO, Asia Pacific at Damco (part of Maersk Group), where he ran the company’s business operations for the Asia region, stretching from Japan to Myanmar.

In his new role, Mr Knudsen will lead a team of more than 3,100 Toll team members across 26 countries, as well as an expansive network of agents across more than 150 countries. Toll Group’s Managing Director, Michael Byrne said Mr Knudsen’s appointment comes at a critical time for the business.

Mr Knudsen brings a proven track record in delivering results in a highly competitive industry,” Mr Byrne said. “The strategy for our transformation of our Global Forwarding business is clearly defined and we are starting to see good results. Mr Knudsen will accelerate the good progress that Toll is making to restore its global forwarding business back into sustainable growth,” Mr Byrne
said.

Mr Knudsen holds an Executive Master of Management degree in Supply Chain from IE Business School, Madrid, Spain. Mr Knudsen will be based in Singapore, commencing January 2018 and will report to Managing Director, Michael Byrne.
About Thomas Knudsen

Thomas Knudsen is a senior global logistics executive with more than 25 years of experience in executive leadership roles across commercial, trade and route management
sectors in the Middle East, North America, Europe and Asia.

Most recently Mr Knudsen was CEO, Asia Pacific at global logistics leader, Damco (part of Maersk Group). Based in Singapore, he was responsible for the company’s day-to-day business operations for the Asia region, with more than 5000 colleagues in a region stretching from Japan to Myanmar.

Prior to joining Damco, Mr Knudsen spent two decades cultivating a wealth of experience with A.P. Moller – Maersk. His most recent role was as the Asia Pacific Regional CEO for Maersk Linec, leading all commercial activities across the region. Thomas also sat on Maersk’s global leadership team.

Mr Knudsen is fluent in English and Danish and also speaks French and German. He holds an Executive Master of Management degree in Supply Chain from IE Business School, Madrid, Spain, and in 2016 completed a strategy course at Harvard Business School.
